Why El Paso Pet Owners Trust My Pet Motel for Boarding

When you leave your pet in someone else's care, you're not just handing over an animal — you're trusting someone with a member of your family. That trust isn't given lightly, and it shouldn't be.

For over 30 years, El Paso families have been bringing their dogs and cats to My Pet Motel at 10050 McCombs Street in Northeast El Paso. Some of our guests are second-generation — we cared for their parents' pets before we started caring for theirs. That kind of loyalty doesn't happen by accident.

Here's what we've learned about what El Paso pet owners actually need from a boarding facility — and how we've built everything around those needs.

El Paso's Climate Demands Climate Control

Let's start with the obvious: El Paso summers are brutal. Temperatures regularly exceed 100°F, and the desert heat can be dangerous for pets left in outdoor runs or inadequately cooled facilities.

Every one of our 25 dog runs is fully climate-controlled. Your dog is never exposed to the midday heat, never left in a run that relies on fans and shade to stay tolerable. The same goes for our dedicated cat room, where our private Kitty Condos are kept at a comfortable, consistent temperature year-round.

This isn't a luxury — in El Paso, it's a baseline requirement. Any facility that can't guarantee climate control isn't a safe option for your pet during summer months.

Dogs and Cats Deserve Separate Spaces

One of the most common sources of stress for boarded cats is proximity to dogs. The sounds, smells, and energy of a dog boarding area can be deeply unsettling for a cat — even if they never come into direct contact.

At My Pet Motel, our cats stay in a dedicated cat room that is completely separate from our dog boarding area. The Kitty Condos are private — each cat has their own space, not shared with unfamiliar animals. It's quieter, calmer, and designed specifically for feline comfort.

For dogs, our 25 indoor runs give each guest their own space while still allowing for the social stimulation that dogs thrive on. We also have a 6-foot fenced walking area for exercise during the cooler morning and evening hours.

Vaccination Requirements Protect Every Guest

We require proof of current vaccinations for every pet that stays with us — no exceptions. For dogs, that means Rabies, DA2PPV (distemper/parvo), and Bordetella (Kennel Cough). For cats, Rabies and FVRCP (feline distemper).

Some pet owners find this inconvenient. We understand that. But these requirements exist to protect your pet and every other pet in our care. A facility that doesn't enforce vaccination requirements is cutting corners on the safety of all its guests.

If your pet's vaccines aren't current, we can help — we offer on-site vaccine administration for Rabies, DA2PPV, FVRCP, and combination packages. You can get your pet up to date and boarded in a single visit.

30+ Years Means We've Seen Everything

Experience matters in pet care. Over three decades, we've cared for pets with complex medical needs, anxious first-time boarders, senior dogs who need extra attention, and cats who took a week to warm up to us. We've handled emergencies calmly and communicated with owners clearly.

That experience shows up in small ways — knowing when a dog's behavior change is normal adjustment versus something to watch, understanding how to introduce a nervous cat to a new space, recognizing the signs that a pet needs a little extra reassurance.

It also shows up in our relationships with the El Paso community. We know our regular guests. We know their quirks, their preferences, their histories. That familiarity is something you simply can't replicate at a new facility.

Open Every Day, All Week

We're open Monday through Sunday, 8am to 8pm. No closed Sundays, no limited Saturday hours, no holiday blackout periods where you can't reach anyone.

For El Paso families — especially military families at Fort Bliss whose schedules don't always follow a predictable pattern — that consistency matters. You can drop off and pick up on your schedule, not ours.

What to Expect When You Call

When you call us at (915) 751-8817, you'll talk to someone who knows our facility and can answer your questions directly. We're happy to walk you through our vaccination requirements, discuss your pet's specific needs, and help you figure out the right dates for your stay.

We also welcome tours. If you've never boarded with us before, come see the facility before you commit. We have nothing to hide and everything to show.

We're now taking reservations for August 25 and beyond. If you've been looking for a trusted, locally owned boarding option in El Paso, we'd love to meet you and your pet.

Reserve your August spot at My Pet Motel — or call us directly at (915) 751-8817.
